CT Open House & Artifact ID Day

In celebration of CT Open House Day, we are hosting our Third Annual Artifact Identification Day!

All are welcome to bring in their arrowheads, stones, pottery, baskets, jewelry, etc. for free identification with special guests UConn Archaeologist Dr. Kevin McBride; FOSA Excavation Field Supervisor Scott Brady; Lapidary and Mineral Society of Central CT’s Nancy Najarian; and IAIS Board Member, Craig Nelson.

Also joining us are Lapidary and Mineral Society of Central CT’s members Bob Reynolds and Al Pereira, showcasing an assortment of rocks and minerals found right here in Connecticut and fossils dating back millions of years!

Try your hand at spear throwing with atlatl specialist Gary Nolf who also will be doing live flint knapping throughout the day. Nowashe’s newest curated show, South Windsor Unearthed: Rarely Seen Indigenous artifacts, will be presented indoors at Wood Memorial Library and outdoors in the village. Come and discover some interesting facts about the material culture remains of South Windsor’s Indigenous Peoples.

We hope you will join us in Nowashe Village from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. for day of family fun activities.

Free with a suggested donation: $5 per child, $10 for adults, $25 per family.
