“Albertus Jones: South Windsor Artist and Teacher” w/speaker Gary Knobles

SW Historical Society  and the Friends Wood Memorial Library and Museum will co-sponsor the local history program,  “Albertus Jones: South Windsor Artist and teacher” with speaker Gary Knobel.


According to his WPA biography, Jones was, “Always a teacher. He believed that ‘his most important contribution to art was training other artists’”. He taught in virtually every art institution in Hartford and South Windsor.
Gary Knoble, a Trustee of the New Britain Museum of American Art and chair of their Collections Committee,
will be bringing some works by Jones for the program.

A exhibit will accompany this program and will include paintings from the South Windsor Historical Society, The Wood, the South Windsor Public Library, First Congregational Church of South Windsor as well as several on loan from private collectors. The exhibit will be up from September 21, 2023 through October 26, 2023.

Anyone who has works by Jones is welcome to bring them for the evening. There is a fee of $5 for members of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library or the South Windsor Historical Society; for non-
members the fee is $7.
