In celebration of  CT Open House Day and the season opening of Nowashe Village we are excited to be hosting our 3rd annual Artifact Identification Day.  Nowashe Village welcomes back, Connecticut State Archaeologist emeritus, Dr. Nick Bellantoni, FOSA President Scott Brady, Nancy Najarian of the Lapidary & Mineral Society of Central Connecticut, Craig Nelson of the Institute for American Indian Studies and Archaeologist/Archaeoastronomist, Vance Tiede. Visitors are encouraged to bring up to three items for our experts to look at.

In addition to Artifact identification, Nowashe Village will also play host to Primitive Technologist, Jim Dina as he demonstrates live canoe burning and features his own completed dugout canoe.

Indigenous presenters, Miciah Stasis (Herring Pond Wampanoag) will discuss the history and significance of Wampum as well as explore wampum jewelry making, and Taylor Stasis (Herring Pond Wampanoag)  will demonstrate and explain various weaving techniques.

Admission is FREE, but donations are encouraged.  All proceeds go to support Nowashe Village.
